This site sets no cookies. That is the whole policy; the rest of this page explains what it means and what happens instead.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits, which lets the site recognise the browser over time. Cookies are used for useful things such as keeping you signed in, and for tracking, such as building a profile of what you read across different sites.

This site sets none

lucentworks.online sets no cookies of its own, and no third party sets cookies through it. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, no conversion or retargeting pixel, no social media embed, no session identifier and no preference cookie. The site loads no third-party script of any kind, and makes no external requests at all — no hosted fonts, no images from other domains, no libraries from a content delivery network. The only files your browser requests are the pages, one stylesheet and one small JavaScript file, all served from this domain.

That JavaScript is first-party, readable and unminified. It opens the mobile menu, expands and collapses the questions on one page, and highlights the current heading in a contents list. It stores nothing and sends nothing anywhere.

Because nothing is stored on your device and nothing is tracked, there is no consent banner on this site. A banner asking permission to use cookies, on a site that sets none, would be a false statement dressed as compliance, so there isn't one. There is nothing to consent to and nothing to decline.

What happens instead

Two things happen that are worth being clear about, because neither involves a cookie.

• Server logs. The hosting provider's web server records each request: the IP address, the browser's user agent string, the URL requested, the response status, a referring page where one is sent, and the date and time. This is ordinary server operation, used for security and diagnostics. Retention and the cross-border position are set out in the privacy policy.
• Links to other sites. Following any external link, including an affiliate link, takes you to a site this publisher does not control. That site may well set cookies of its own, under its own policy. Nothing this site does affects that, and this site receives no personal information back.

No local storage, no fingerprinting

The site uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB and no cache-based storage of preferences. It does not attempt to identify your browser through fingerprinting techniques such as canvas rendering, font enumeration or device characteristics. No setting you change on this site is remembered between visits, because there is nowhere for it to be remembered.

Managing cookies in your browser anyway

Even though nothing here needs it, every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. The controls are generally found under Settings, in a section named Privacy, Privacy and security, or Cookies and site data. From there you can clear stored cookies, block third-party cookies, block all cookies for particular sites, or clear site data when the browser closes. Browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies and site data when the window is closed. Blocking cookies broadly can break sites that rely on them, such as anything you sign in to; it will not affect this site, which needs none.

If this ever changes

Setting no cookies is a deliberate choice, not an oversight, and there is no plan to change it. If a cookie or any similar technology is ever introduced, this page will be updated first, describing each item and its purpose, and a working consent mechanism will be in place before anything is set. The privacy policy will be updated in the same change. The effective date above shows when the current version took effect.
